【Trekking & View】 Silver Line / Jukai(= where trees grow densely) Line (Niigata pref.- Fukushima pref.)

The area between the Uonuma region of Niigata Prefecture and the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture is one of Japan's most remote and secluded areas. The roads running through this remote area are the "Silver Line" and the "Jukai Line."
The "Silver Line" is a road with an incredibly long tunnel, while the "Jukai Line" is a dangerously winding road along the edge of cliffs. This time, we'll introduce these, in a sense, "life-threatening driving roads." (Nihedon @ KesaranPasaran Lab)

The Silver Line is a long stretch of tunnels like this. Isn't it amazing to drive through tunnels like this for almost an hour?!

And what's more, the road even splits into two at one point inside the tunnel!

If you follow the correct fork in the road inside the tunnel, you will arrive at this rest house on the shore of Lake Tadami.

★A sheer cliff on one side! A terrifying winding road.★

From here, the road heading towards Oze and Hinoemata Village seems to change its name again to "Jukai Line"

★Okutadami Electric Power Museum★

The power museum can be reached by cable car from the rest house. Apparently, the Okutadami Dam can generate enough electricity to power 250,000 units.

Giant propellers used for power generation

We must never forget the precious lives lost during the construction of this dam.

ACCESS :

Approximately 50 minutes by car from Uonuma Interchange on the Kan-Etsu Expressway.
