【Trekking & View】 Benten at Hacchojo Pond (Shizuoka pref.)
Haccho Pond is a mystical pond located near the Amagi Pass in Izu, and is sometimes called the "Eye of Izu" because of its nearly circular shape. It's also a scientifically valuable site and famous as a habitat for the Japanese tree frog (Rhacophorus arboreus).
Although called a "pond," its circumference is nearly 600 meters, making it more of a lake. I found it on Google Maps as a "circular, light blue area in the mountains" and climbed up out of curiosity. However, due to my lack of stamina, I remember struggling quite a bit to walk around the pond.
But when I finally saw the pond after trudged up the mountain path, I was so moved that I let out a cry of awe! (Nihedon @ KesaranPasaran Lab)
