【Town & Gourumet】 A beautiful hellish theme park "Osorezan" (Aomori pref.)
Normally, "hell" is considered the opposite of "heaven," a place where evil people go after death. I used to think so too.
But after visiting Mount Osore, I started to think that "hell might be a place that purifies human sins." I even thought, "Wow, hell can be such a beautiful place!"
Mount Osore gave me such a different perspective on hell; I think it's a place everyone should visit at least once. (Nihedon @ KesaranPasaran Lab)
The "Sanzu River," across which the dead cross. The willow tree on the left is an item used to "hang the clothes of the deceased and infer their misdeeds in life from how much the branches droop."
She is the "Datsueba," who strips the clothes off the dead.
And he is her husband, "The Old Man Who Steals Clothes."
Beyond this temple gate lies "real hell."
After passing through the temple gate...
After passing through the temple gate...
Sai no Kawara
A fantastical and beautiful landscape of hell
There were windmills everywhere.
And there's even a free hot spring!
Here, one communicates with the dead through an "Itako" (female shamans).
A hellish landscape that makes you reluctant to leave.
